About Arts Arising
For more than 30 years, Arts Arising has been providing summer arts programming for children in grades four through eight who have been identified as gifted or talented in visual art, music, drama, and dance. In partnership with the Kershaw County School District, Arts Arising has reached more than 3,500 students in the community since its inception. This year, approximately 140 children from Kershaw County schools will participate.
Each day, comprehensive classes in the students’ focus areas are coupled with interdisciplinary classes, performances, and discussions with visiting professional artists. Instructions stress advanced understanding, skills, and knowledge in the arts, as well as an exploration of the many roles of the artist: historian, critic, aesthetician, producer, and performer.
For Parents
Students are not eligible to participate unless selected through a participating school, and there is no other opportunity to apply or participate. If you have additional questions you can follow up with us at 803-425-7676 or [email protected].
Funding For Arts Arising
Funding for this program is made possible through generous grants from the Kershaw County School District, South Carolina Arts Commission, the Duke Energy Foundation, and Associated Charities of Kershaw County.
